Merry Christmas!

2007 is almost over. Time to celebrate and bring in 2008!

I'm reflecting on the last 12 months and without sounding like a scrooge, I'm so glad it's over.
To say it's been a roller coaster would not be an exaggeration. Lots of good mixed in with lots of ick.
I'm looking so forward to my personal plans and at the same time I'm excited about going into a new direction with work. Details will follow later.

I'm going out of town this week where it's perfectly okay to have a mojito at 9am. Yeah!

Celebrating Adoption

Reminiscing of my girls trip to Greece

As I sit editing my Christmas sessions, I am daydreaming of getting back to Europe next summer. I took a girls trip to Greece a couple of years ago and wanted to share some personal photos. Cynthia and Catherine were my traveling companions. We took many photos but here are just a few. I dug these out of a box along with a business card I didn't know I had. (below)

This is my favorite season and favorite time of the year. There's nothing like Thanksgiving day to join everyone together and remind us why we're thankful. Ever since I was a little girl, I was grateful that I happened to be born into this family that I love so much.

Yesterday we spent the day at my Uncle & Auntie's home with all our families. And if you don't know, I have ALOT of family. I loved the day and not to mention I ate like I was never going to eat again. Ever.

I have this little 6 yr old cousin, Noah. He hugs me with this genuine hug and stays there for a bit. Then he squeezes my head and says in this long voice "I wannnnnnnnna bite your ears offffff because you're soooooooooooo pretty!"
OMG. Really? Now where are all the big hot guys that say that? Seriously.
He has just earned his favorite cousin award from me.

So I saw a distant cousin who I met once when I was 6 yrs old in Chicago. Well it's been over 25 years and I saw her again. I cant get over how many similarities we share. She loves documentary photography. She's been all over the world.
Okay stop: if you know me well enough, then you'll know that's all she had to say. I was going to be a lifetime friend. Wow. Someone who finally gets me. My husband walked up to us while we were engaged in our next thrill adventure trip. His eyes grew bigger and my smile grew wider. He read my mind and walked away.
Marriage. Together as 2. I mean 1.

A birth...the miracle of a new life

Today I went down to Tucson to document the birth of Baby Ollie, my friend Leah's 3rd son. I wasn't sure if I'd be nervous, considering I'd never done this type of session, never given birth and never witnessed one either. I was overcome with emotion and am honored to have been part of this very special day! What an amazing experience for everyone. Mom and Dad were both troopers!

So an addition to people photography, I've also teamed up with pool builder contractors to do their "after" shots. These usually go up on their websites and are used for marketing materials.

This particular job was photographed last week and one of my favorite remodels so far. Everything was beautiful, from the flagstone to the view!

1) I get bored easily. Like I can walk away from a conversation with someone and not even realize it.

2)I love cats. I have 3. They're my girls. I don't care what you noncat lovers say out there, they truly are beautiful creatures. Or maybe it's just my cats...;)

3)I'm one of those people that need 8-9 hours of sleep a night otherwise I'm a mess the next day.

4)Cheap people drive me nuts. Enough said.

5)I drive fast. And when you're with me in the car, I drive normal so I dont scare the living crap out of you. Otherwise I'm the person you call the "maniac" on the road. Esspecially now with my Charger. :) Slow people, get out of my way!

6)I live, dream, breathe, travel and photography. The two go hand in hand. If I had it my way, I'd have no homebase. I'd be a globetrotter.

7)My social life is important to me. I love my friends.

8)I also believe that everything happens for a reason. It just does.

Michaela's moving back to Cali...

My little cousin Michaela reminds me of myself at her age. Its crazy. No one looks like me but her. She's the little love of my life. She asked me if I wished I could be a little girl like her so we can play and go to school together.
Oh....in a heartbeat princess. In a heartbeat.
