Unless I'm being sarcastic and goofy, I'm not a bragger.
But.....this is a happy bragger post. So I'm about to brag. ;)
I submitted two images from India for the 16x20 competition prints for WPPI. I'm happy to say that one of them made it. It was displayed in a room inside the MGM with other winners and a pretty little ribbon that went around it indicating a winner. I wish I had taken a picture, bahhhh.
Anyway, I received this email today and decided to blog it along with the image of the gypsy whom I photographed in Kashmir while hiking in the himalayas.
It was by far one of my favorite days of 2008. Story goes like this: I remember spinning in the rain like that crazy lady in Sound of Music on top of the green hills, happy as I could ever be, AND running back to my guesthouse to grab my camera after i met this lady whose face just captivated me. Thank god the guesthouse was only 30 minutes away from the lady's tent!
Her family made hot tea for me and we just smiled and trying to make conversation. They found it exciting to meet a foreigner and I found it double exciting to meet them. They made me promise to send them the pictures.
And OH how I've attempted but they closed down the road getting to them, I found out after communicating via email with the guide who took me there.
I might have to go back and hand them the pictures myself. ;)
The man on the right is her son. He's writing the address down of a shop owner he knows so i can mail him the pictures. :(
