....means Hello :)
I got out of confinement and am having a blast minus the heat. My senses are all heightened to say the least. I am amazed by what I've seen in Old delhi and New Delhi in just the last 2 days. We were taken to a newer area built by the English which was green and gorgeous and then a poverty stricken area inside Old Delhi. Of course I was drawn to the people in poverty area more. I couldnt help but stare and think. Women that i saw here in those specific areas are amazing. I look at them taking care of the kids in the heat trying to sell a toy to make some money or working on the side of the street jackhammering in their saris and then I begin to take a look at myself and the life I live and why I feel so stressed out so much of the time. Actually you'd all be able to relate the same way I am if you were here instead. This is a whole different life. I'm speaking for the ones on the streets that earn their living. It really makes you appreciate the life you live and the things you take for granted. But my head does feel much lighter here. Simpler. I haven't been all over but I'm already immersed in the culture and am not as homesick anymore. It didnt help the first few days when i looked up from my floor mattress up at a wall map hanging above me and cringed whenever I saw how far home was from me. But now I find it fascinating. Ive been to so many countries but there's none so far like India. Its overwhelming emotionally. The kids are beautiful and some of them steal your breath away with their big brown eyes smiling at you. Everyone should make a trip here once in their life. I say this after having been out in the streets for 2 days. Oh and never ever ever ever come here in the summer. Its the biggest jackass move you can ever make so Dec or January might be a better option. I can't wait to see more on the weekends that I'm not working at the orphanage.
I don't want to fail to mention that as excited as we are to photograph the people, THEY are so much more excited to photograph us, especially the blond girls in the group. I mean seriously folks, wrap a sari around me and put on some heavy makeup and I'll blend right in with the natives... ;)
Speaking of saris, I got sized for one that I can wear the next time I shoot an Indian wedding back home. Will someone get married already??!!
The food is fabulous. I am loving it.
In the meantime, thanks for staying in touch with me and here are a few snapshots from the point and shoot.

Ruby - I'm glad to read that these last few days were better than the first few. The impact that the culture has had on you in such a short period of time will no doubt carry forward --- this is awesome to read. Be ready for more...
And that 2nd shot of the little guy - very nice. His eyes tell such a story ... sad being that young to have that. //enoch
Hey girl! It's good to hear things are going better. I am thrilled that you're getting a sari! I can't wait to see it and of course, we're going to have to take photos of you in in it-ready for another Sedona photo shoot?
Speaking of jackass moves, I climbed Squaw Peak yesterday in 110 degree heat. I should say, half way to the peak, before I was feeling too nauseous to hike another step and turned around, back to the safety and air conditioning of my car. Heck with sunset photographs. I can get those from the ground, can't I? The difference between your jackass move and mine is that I knew better. :)
Hang in there, Ruby! Love you!
