Really I don't like "excersizing." (Did I even spell excersizing right?) I don't mind hiking in the mornings with my friend, but it's way HOT out now. The gym is not my friend. Probably will never be either.
So, I signed up for dancing classes with my girlfriend which I thought would be fun and at the same time would help burn off some calories. My friend backed out and I decided to stay. I wanted to do something for ME. Something other than photography. People have asked me why my husband won't do it. Well because he won't. What can I say? I've joked around teasing him about me being out at salsa clubs dancing without him and he just glares at me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
My dance teacher, Alexander (Sasha for short) is from Russia and is extremely patient and kind. He's been teaching dance for 15 years and just came to the United States a year ago and is teaching here now. I get frustrated with myself when I miss the same step 2000 times but he doesn't get frustrated with me. Overall, he says I pick up pretty quickly.
Everyone I've met down at the studio is incredibly nice and if you're in AZ and would like to take this up, check out the website. http://www.arrowheadballroom.com/video/index.html
After a few weeks, I now know how to salsa, rumba, fox trot and swing! The basic steps and body postures and some twirly whirlies. Meaning with some music, a shot of vodka, and lots of people around, I will be able to get down on the dance floor.
Oh.
By myself, honey.
(thanks to Nadia from the studio for snapping some pix)

that is so awesome! so you think you can dance ;)
You sound like a riot. I think we would really get along well. Kudos to trying something new on your own. It feels good to do something for yourself for a change...doesn't it?

Oh my gosh, Ruby. The more I get to know you the more I love you! I love that you did this for yourself even when your friend backed out! I did the same thing back in the day, but it was LINE DANCING instead of ballroom. LOL And the third pic of you is sooooo cute!!!!
SOO much fun! Look at you shaking your booty. I miss you! It was so great talking to you yesterday. We have to plan our date when you come see me :)

Love seeing you girl! Wish I could take those lessons with you--what fun!! Can't wait to see your new moves!
Look at you hottie, how fun!
Glad to see you’re enjoying dancing! Ballroom dancing can be a lot of fun! It makes you more disciplined and more graceful, and makes you work up a sweat. But you’re having fun while doing it. Plus, the dances are so diverse and unique. Each kind has a way of telling a different kind of story. It’s like reciting poetry, but with one’s feet instead.
