The economy is a joke, gas prices are insane, food prices have gone up, and rumor has it that Hugh Hefner wants to file for bankruptcy. I mean seriously, if Hugh Hefner's empire is falling, then I'm a wee bit worried.
I'm driving home listening to music thumping in my ears and I think about all the chaos in this world outside of my car windows. Am I worried about the state and condition this world is in? You have no idea.
I still find myself constantly laughing which means I've either lost my mind or am just plain happy nowadays.
As I near my house, I am instantly taken back to the few minutes i spent with children living in slums outside of Srinigar (capital city of Kashmir).
I was moved by their excitement and happiness with so little. Their life is simpler than mine and yours. They don't have the bills that you or I have. They don't have fancy appliances, or cars, or houses, or games.
....and they're fine.
The rest of the world will be too. It's a matter of time.

Wow, that really puts our current situation in perspective! These are beautiful and powerful images Ruby.
I agree with Dena..puts things into a different..better..point of view. Thanks for sharing these and getting me back on track. :D
Wow, Ruby...I agree with Dena too - that puts everything into perspective. We are so blessed but yet complain probably just as much. I know that I try to thank God for ALL my blessings everyday, but I'm sure I can even do better. Thanks for this reminder. It's something to keep in the front of your mind everyday right now.
As I'm packing my suitcases to go on a 2 week vacation, I decided to take a break and read your blog. Here I am getting ticked off because I can't fit all of my families belongings into 2 huge suitcases and 3 carry ons....and then I read your blog. Seriously, I'm complaining about how much stuff I have. Your words and images are truly humbling Ruby! Thanks for sharing and putting things into perspective.

very poignant post with more emotive images Ruby. Thank you for this post and pictures.
I told you that people wouldn't get it...
Life will continue on regardless of the world economy. Things will certainly change.
It's good that you have seen what life is like elsewhere and I congratulate you on sharing it with those whose biggest decision today is what to wear rather than will I eat?
Love your work... People like you are making a difference...
These images are fantastic. I absolutely love them. What a great message.
Wow. Thanks for this post.
Oh and I heart that effiel tower shot
oh dear, so moving, so true, we always think we have it bad but we are no where like this. Good post. ( you better post about the show so your followers can come!!
My friend and I were just talking about this a couple days ago. How this economy situation is forcing people to stick to what matters, by losing their gorgeous overpriced homes they can't afford, maybe even cars, being forced to cut back on expensive toys. We don't need it. If only we didn't know any better, right?
Shannon, "if only we didn't know better" is totally right.
Thanks to everyone for your expressions and thoughts on this post.
last month shooting in mexico, just over the border we witnessed a lot of poverty. it's heart breaking, and it definitely brings our situation perspective.
moving images ruby as always.
my heart breaks looking at these images. It's a sad world outside of the US. We are blessed.
You are one exceptional individual Ruby! Thanks for sharing! These pics are so detailed and touching.
Wow these images are so moving. I can't stop looking at them. Amazing and it does make you wish that things were more simple yet grateful for what we do have.
