She's an incredible woman and someone I've admired my entire life, whose strength and class is like no other.
I've wanted to do something different rather than the traditional pose we have so many of......
I wanted to photograph my grandomother's hands along with her grandchildrens hands (me and my siblings) for a couple of years now.
Of course, the time is never right.
So a few days ago, I told her of my idea to blow up an image on my wall of just her hands alone.
She smiled then proudly arranged her hands in a few different positions and I snapped away.
This one below was my favorite.
So......I will mount a 16x20 and put it on MY wall, proudly displaying my grandmothers 86 yr old hands that have done so much work, given so much love, and have not stopped just yet.
A few weeks ago, I had a client session where I photographed a large extended family. I did this with the grandmother and all of her grandchildren. (No relation).

If you're grandmother or grandfather is still alive, this might not be a bad idea. ;)

beautifully simple, and simply beautiful
We think a lot alike...it's actually something I've been wanting to do for quite sometime now. But the timing is never right and I just keep putting it off. You've inspired me to kick my butt into gear and make the time. I wanted to do it with my grandmother's hands and my kids hands (her great grandkids. We'll see how it turns out. Ruby you're writing is just as beautiful as your photography...your post once again gave me warm fuzzies. Thanks for sharing.
