See, we rarely take pictures together. It's pretty sad actually considering I carry my camera around like it's part of my body.
We took this picture on Mother's Day and I just love it.
My father passed away almost 20 years ago and mom has raised us on her own. 4 of us. She never dated after that (let me tell you I'm not making any promises if Mike decides to venture off into the light before i do)....and I am grateful for her love and devotion to us. She sacrificed many things to make sure we came out 'right' as she says. Although I'd like to think I turned out perfect due to her upbringing, I do have a few glitches. ;)
She hates when I text her. She wants me to call instead so she can hear my voice. So on days I don't really feel like being on the phone, I still text her....and she violates the text code etiquette and calls back.
My mom is insanely hyper and talkative. If I have her come over on any given morning, I'm awake as soon as she walks into that door. Sometimes I have to tell her "MOM!!! My energy is bothered by your hyper energy!" and she just laughs and keeps talking as if I didn't just make a point.
But then when she's not around, I miss her.
And if I need anything, at any time, she's there with open arms.
Did I mention this lady can cook? She'll cook for 10 people when only 2 are coming over.
I love my mom.

Ruby, you are both beautiful!
We've talked about moms before so I know how much you love your mom! And hey! When do I get to eat some of that yummy food??? just kidding. ;)
What a wonderful post, Ruby! You, your mother, and sister are all beautiful! If I didn't love you so much, I might not like you. ;) P.S. Al's mom never dated after either. Wow. And yes, I'm with Jenifer - now we have three coming over - that should be a good start for a meal for 10, right? ;)
well now we know where you get your beauty! how awesome to have such a great relationship with your mama!
I love your mom too and your whole family!!
Gosh I miss you!!!
Tell mom I said hi! :)
xoxo
that was so sweet. You are both so pretty:)
That is a sweet tribute to your mom Ruby! Reminds me - I need to get my mom into a picture soon!
Isn't it funny that as photographers the people we don't photograph are the people closest to us. I miss both of my parents and have very few photos to remember them by.
And why is it that photographers seem to be reluctant to have their image taken?
What a beautiful post! Makes me wanna call my mom and just say "thank you".
wow! i guess i am so emotional right now, your post brings tears to my eyes! its awesome that you share your life with us and my goodness you are both beautiful, i love post like this, for those who don't know you on a personal level, like actually meeting in person, it lets us in your life a little, so thank you and i am so glad we have met! through our blogs anyway! you are one awesome woman!
Ruby,
Your mom is gorgeous just like you! Love and miss you girl!
It sounds like you and your mom have a very special relationship. You are both adorable!
A wonderful post, and a wonderful picture. Thank you for sharing this Ruby.
What a wonderful post, makes me just get my camera and go take a picture of me and my MOM. Beautiful picture of the two of you also.
Ruby - OMGOSH - I'm glad I wasn't eating while reading this cause you saying this "(let me tell you I'm not making any promises if Mike decides to venture off into the light before i do)" would caused a mess on my screen - I truly LOL. What a wonderful post for you mama - very lovely and your relationship with her seems so strong. I love your writing...//enoch
